Gaynor Gasket & Seal (formerly Gaynor Industries) is a division of United Tool & Machine. Over 60 years ago, BarTite Sealing Washers were introduced as one of the first "one-piece washer" designs developed and patented in the United States.

Today, Gaynor & Gasket Seal operates out of a 60,000 square-foot-facility in Lawrence, MA and has invested heavily in streamlining processes and expanding production capabilities. Compliance

RoHS is the acronym for Restriction of Hazardous Substances as defined by European Union Directive 2002/95/EC. Effective July 1, 2006, this directive restricts the use of lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (CrVI), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) in new electrical and electronic equipment. Substances are restricted to 0.1% or 1000ppm by weight of homogeneous material (except for cadmium, which is limited to 0.01% or 100ppm). The restricted materials are found to be hazardous to the environment, pollute landfills, and are dangerous in terms of occupational exposure during manufacturing and recycling.

The RoHS Directive compliments the WEEE Directive 2002/96/EA (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment) which mandates the treatment, recovery and recycling of electric and electronic equipment. By definition, RoHS regulates the use of hazardous substances in electric and electronic components while WEEE regulates their disposal.

In response to the RoHS compliance directive, we are pleased to inform you that all Gaynor Gasket & Seal standard fasteners are in compliance to this criterion.

DFARS is the acronym for Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement. When required, it invokes the Berry Amendment, also known as the "Preference for Domestic Specialty Metals." This amendment states that specialty metals used in the manufacture of fasteners be melted in the United States or qualifying country.

The Berry Amendment requires the United States Department of Defense to purchase select items, including those made from "specialty metals" such as stainless steel, exclusively from American sources. The follow-up regulations, DFARS Clause 252.225-7014, prohibits contractors and their suppliers from incorporating "specialty metals" (as defined in the clause) into military parts, components, and deliverables, unless the specialty metals have been melted in the United States or other qualifying country listed in DFARS 225.872-1 (currently Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, or United Kingdom).
